Manual Handling practice and assessment
One of the biggest causes of workplace injury and consequently lost productivity are those injuries caused by poor manual handling.
It is a requirement of the Manual Handling Operations regulations 1992 that ALL employees who carry out any form of manual handling (Which includes ANY lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling or supporting of a load) in the course of their work activities, to be trained in how to carry the task out safely.
Course Duration: 1/2 Day (4 Hrs)
Course Objectives: Manual Handling Awareness.
Course target delegates: Persons who are involved in Manual Handling Operations.
Delegates will gain an understanding of:-
Defining and recognising problem areas in Manual Handling operations.
Employer/Employee duties and responsibilities in relation to Manual Handling.
Impact of Poor Manual Handling techniques.
Causes and contributory factors of musculoskeletal disorders.
Making assessment of the Manual Handling Tasks.
Weight limits guidelines.
Types and Selection of Lifting Aids.
Kinetic Lifting Methods.
Methods of 'Back Care'.
Delegates will complete a multi choice test paper and practical assessment to demonstrate their understanding.
On successful completion delegates will recieve a Manual handling guidance leaflet and certificate of attendance
