Logistics Operation Management (Level 3)

Summary: 

Level 3 NVQ is aimed at personnel in a supervisory management role who have some responsibility for staff.

This qualification for the supervisor or manager in the warehouse/transport operation.  Using your documents from your job role, with personal statements and testimonies from your colleagues and manager, your assessor will help you build your portfolio to prove your competence.

This NVQ is aimed at practising managers who have responsibility for managing their own resources and professional development, provide leadership in their area of responsibility, allocate and monitor the progress and quality of work in their area of responsibility, ensuring Health and Safety requirements are met in their area of responsibility.

Entry requirements: 

This course is open to candidates of any age of either gender and there are no entry barriers on grounds of race, creed or previous academic attainment or learning. Candidates are expected to have sufficient standards of communication and number skills to carry out the work described in the standards.

Full Description: 

Candidates have to complete 8 units, comprising

  • 3 mandatory units
  • 5 optional units

Mandatory Units

(All 3 units must be taken by all candidates)

  • Identify the logistics requirements of a supply chain
  • Promote and maintain health, safety, and security in logistics operations
  • Promote compliance of logistics operations with legislation, regulations, and organisational Procedures

Optional Units

A total of 5 units to be taken from the three option groups, according to the following rules:

  • a minimum of 1 unit from each of Option Group 1 and Option Group 2
  • 3 other units to be taken from any of Option Groups 1, 2, and 3
  • a maximum of 3 units from each option group can be taken

Option Group 1

(A minimum of 1 unit up to a maximum of 3 units must be taken by all candidates)

  • Schedule logistics operations to meet customer requirements
  • Optimise the use of logistics resources
  • Develop contingency plans for logistics operations
  • Utilise transport modes in logistics operations
  • Apply technology in logistics operations

Option Group 2

(A minimum of 1 unit up to a maximum of 3 units must be taken by all candidates)

  • Develop relationships with logistics customers
  • Improve the quality of logistics operations
  • Respond to contingencies during logistics operations
  • Monitor the environmental impact of logistics operations

Option Group 3: Specialist and Management units

(Up to a maximum of 3 units can be taken by all candidates)

International Logistics Operations Units

  • Arrange the transportation of goods using multiple transport modes
  • Organise the preparation of documentation for the transportation of goods

Warehousing and Storage Units

  • Manage the receipt, storage, or dispatch of goods
  • Audit stock levels and stock records

Management and Leadership Units

  • Provide leadership for your team
  • Allocate and check work in your team
