Leadership in Action
Leadership in Action is all about focusing on three key leadership skills; Decision Making, Communication & Teamwork. Most everyday tasks cannot be performed by just the Manager, they need the combined efforts of several staff to get the job done. But to get it done effectively as a manager you need to make good decisions, communicate them well, and install a team ethos in those who need to deliver. They will look to you for guidance and confidence. This module is about making sure you respond as the leader of the team.

Key Learning Points During this module the focus will be on best practice techniques for Decision Making, Communicating & Teamwork. These essential skills are constantly being drawn on, and therefore understanding what to apply and when will help you achieve a greater success. Decision Making will focus on the different types of decisions made, how they are made and the impact they can have. Communication is absolutely critical in conveying those decisions and if used incorrectly can have an adverse affect. Different forms of communication are explored together with the delivery. Finally effective use of teamwork in work situations is covered looking at how teams are made up. The roles and responsibilities and how critical each one of these is to the success of the group. You can expect to be Due to the nature of the topics covered in this module you can expect the session to be very interactive. As well as exploring techniques in Decision Making, Communication and Teamwork, large parts of the module are given over to group exercises and role play to highlight success and failure in leading a team. As part of this module you will be provided with some Management Text on Leadership to read prior to the session. You should use the text to broaden your knowledge and participate in debate during the session.

After the course you will expect to have a clearer idea of how decisions are made a different levels. Have a much clearer understanding of the impact of communication both in terms of talking and listening. Finally an understanding of the impact of Teamwork and combined with decision making and communication how you can start to get the most out of your team in delivering your business objectives.
