Working safely with hazardous substances.
There are many substances either used or produced during work activities which may be a source of injury or ill health to workers as defined by the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health regulations 2002.
Those who may be exposed to these hazards along with their supervisors and managers, must be trained in the assessment of the risks the hazards present, along with adequate methods for their controlled use, handling transportation and storage.
Course duration: 1 day (8 hrs)
Course objectives: To enable delegates to understand, comply & assess hazardous substances in conformance with C.O.S.H.H. regulations.
Course target delegates: Managers, safety officers, employees who may be exposed to hazardous substances.

Defining substances.
Methods and types of exposure.
EH40 exposure limits.
Measuring exposure.
Regulations (C.H.I.P, C.L.P, R.E.A.C.H. & G.H.S)
Hazard identification Symbols.
Hazard labels.
Material Safety Data sheets.
Approved codes of Practice (ACoP)
C.O.S.H.H Requirements.
C.O.S.H.H specific Risk assessment.
Reporting and monitoring.
Delegates will complete a multi choice test paper and practical assessment to demonstrate their understanding.
After completion, delegates will receive a certificate of attendance and C.O.S.H.H. assessment guidance notes.
