Business and Administration Apprenticeship L2
The Apprenticeship is offered at a Level 2 Diploma and combines on and off-the-job training, allowing you to work and at the same time learn new skills that will lead to nationally recognised qualifications. This flexible qualification, which provides apprentices with essential skills for the workplace. This qualification is a competence based qualification aimed at people who wish to specialise in business and administration functions in a supporting role. Learners can choose from a large bank of optional units, allowing them to show understanding and skills in a variety of areas, including human resources, document production, finance and managing information. Units allow learners to demonstrate skills which are transferable and are based on candidate performance at work through observation and evidence collection.
• The person needs to have been resident in the UK and Islands for three years. • The person must not be in full time education. • The person must be aged 16 years or older on the 31st August in the funding year in which their apprenticeship starts. • The person can only start their apprenticeship after the last Friday in June in the funding year in which they became 16 years of age. • Employment must be 16 hours or more. • Anyone who has obtained a higher education qualification at Level 4 or above as defined on the NQF or QCF, including being awarded a first degree by a recognised university or other recognised higher education (HE) institution, is ineligible for Apprenticeship funding, except those who have participated in the New Deal.
Induction Prior to the start of the training, pre-entry requirements are carried out to check eligible for funding. The Apprenticeship Qualification • It is a nationally recognised qualification by any employer, anywhere in the country for all abilities. • OCR Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Business & Administration Edexcel Level 2 BTEC Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration • Functional Skills: Level 1 Maths and Level 2 English Business and Administration Level 2 Certificate Apprenticeships at level 2 are completed within 6 to 12 months depending upon the learner and their circumstances such as the number of hours a week they work. All apprentices need to be in work in an administration type environment in order to achieve the qualification which is made up of: • The qualification is delivered flexibly through tutor support and assessment/observation in the workplace. • Within this time an apprentice will evidence Employment Rights and Responsibilities. • The units are credit-based so apprentices need to undertake sufficient units to build up 21 credits. • There are four mandatory units as well as a selection from a large range of units which suit the needs of the department and the apprenticeship job role. Range of units • Work responsibilities • Manage information and data • Document production • Business resources • Events and meetings • Innovation and change • Communications • IT • Customer services • Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business & Administration This technical certificate is designed to support learners with the knowledge aspects of working in business and administration functions. A portfolio of work is completed to gain the qualification whilst delivery is via workshops or 1 to 1 support depending on the learner’s location and circumstances. Subject Areas Learners must obtain a minimum of 13 credits; taking the three mandatory units (11 credits) and two credits from the optional units. All credits must be achieved from the units listed in this specification. Our tutor could typically deliver 3 – 6 workshops in-house. • Apprentices will normally be expected to set aside approximately 2 hours a week for self-study time. Level of Support Apprentices work with their Assessor and Line Manager to ensure that work based tasks and assessment deliver business improvement. An apprentice will undertake an initial assessment to help plan a training programme. Apprentices are required to complete English and Maths training up to Level 1, where a need is identified.
