Advanced Joinery and Furniture Construction
From Basic joinery to advanced techniques, this course will give students the skills and confidence to start designing and building their own furniture.
No specific requirements however students should discuss their abilities, expectations and needs with the college prior to enrollment. We would highly recommend a visit to the college.
This course starts with our successful 12week basic joinery course. No previous knowledge is assumed and progress will depend upon individual skills. After these 12 weeks a further 12 weeks is spent learning more advance joinery techniques and furniture design. The third stage starts the project modules where a beside unit, chest of drawers, table and chair are constructed.
Upon successful completion of these sections the student moves on to a larger final piece of their own selection (restrictions apply). Students will be expected at this staged to undertake all stages from sourcing materials to completion and finishing. This last piece will form part of the final assessment and dipoloma grade.
January 4th, April 10th, September 10th
This price does not include the cost of material for projects constructed after the initial 12 weeks. Students will be expected to provide their own tools, and no allowance is made for living costs and other student expences.
This course could be the start of a career in the furniture business or a way of upgrading skills for those already employed.
