360 Excavator up to 5 tonnes
Course aim: To teach selected personnel to operate and maintain mini excavators correctly, safely and economically.
Ideally personnel holding a full driving license (not mandatory) who display a mature outlook to the working environment.
The course is conducted at the employers premises or site and is 90% practical.
All necessary operations are covered including the daily check, travelling and negotiating inclines, excavating to line and level, changing ancillaries, use of the offset boom, using the bulldozer blade and operator servicing.
General and machine specific safety is an integral part of the course with a test as part of assessment. Successful candidates will be eligible for registration on the national database of the Equipment Operators Registration Scheme (recognised by the Highways Agency) and can be issued with a photo ID card.
Training is conducted with due regard to the OPERC's (Off Highway Plant and Equipment Research Centre) Code of Practice for the training of operators.

The employer recieves a personal assessment report for each individual.
The candidates recieve a booklet as an aide memoire which includes all the pertinent content of the course.
